Jasper de Boer

The PhD project of Jasper de Boer focuses on the application of machine learning to medical data and targets both cross-sectional and longitudinal data. Extra emphasis is placed on the comparison with conventional statistical methods, to analyse the added value of machine learning. Existing statistical methodology for longitudinal data focuses mostly on inference, but we aim to develop new algorithms for prediction. Research is focused on interpretable models, for example tree- and prototype-based methods.
