C-pack french

A blended learning environment for the integrated acquisition of pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) French for elementary school pre-service teachers.

Teachers pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) is an important predictor of instructional quality and student learning outcomes. Both content knowledge (CK) and general pedagogical knowledge (PK) are necessary, but insufficient conditions for having appropriate PCK. The present research project aims at the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of an integrated blended learning environment to improve pre-service teachers  PCK French (as a second language), with a special focus on learning to teach oral interaction.

The integrated nature of the learning environment is situated on three levels:

  1.  it aims at the acquisition of PCK on oral interaction, by integrating in the learning environment PCK, CK and PK,
  2. by making use of authentic learning tasks aimed atthe acquisition of competencies (i.e., the integration of knowledge, skills and attitudes) regarding teaching oral interactions,
  3. in which a computer-based learning environment is integrated (i.e., blended) with face-to-face instruction.
